Are you looking for a Nevada workamping job, a seasonal campground-host position or a longer stay near Las Vegas and Death Valley?

Tarantula Ranch welcomes inquiries from RV travelers, couples and individuals interested in future workamping and camp-host opportunities at our small desert campground and vineyard in Amargosa Valley, Nevada.

Our needs change throughout the year, so we may not have an immediate opening when you contact us. However, we maintain a list of interested workampers and contact suitable candidates as positions and projects become available.

Workamping at a Small Desert Campground

Tarantula Ranch is an eight-acre, family-owned campground, glamping property and working vineyard in southern Nevada. We are approximately 90 minutes northwest of Las Vegas and about 20 minutes from the Death Valley Junction entrance to Death Valley National Park.

Unlike a large RV resort, our property is small and personal. Guests stay in tent sites, glamping campers, an RV site and a private guest house. Shared spaces include bathrooms, an outdoor kitchen and our community building, The Wine Hall.

Workampers become part of the daily rhythm of the ranch. The environment is quiet, rural and surrounded by open Mojave Desert.

What Kind of Work May Be Available?

Responsibilities depend on the season, current projects and the experience of each applicant. Possible work may include:

  • Welcoming guests and helping with campground questions

  • Cleaning and preparing campsites, campers and shared facilities

  • Monitoring the campground and assisting with basic guest needs

  • Light maintenance, painting and improvement projects

  • Groundskeeping and desert property care

  • Helping around the vineyard during seasonal work

  • Organizing the outdoor kitchen and Wine Hall

  • Photography, social media or other specialized projects

  • Providing occasional coverage while the owners are away

Each opening will have a written description explaining its duties, schedule, compensation and accommodation arrangements.

We are especially interested in dependable people who notice what needs attention, communicate clearly and can work comfortably without constant supervision.

Optional Housing or an FHU RV Site

Workampers travel in many different ways, so accommodations may vary by position.

For applicants bringing their own RV or travel trailer, a full-hookup site may be available as part of the compensation package. Site availability, electrical service, rig size limits and other details will be confirmed before an agreement is made.

For workampers who are not traveling with a camper, optional on-site housing may also be available. Housing varies and may include one of our existing campground accommodations or another private space on the property.

Some positions may include hourly pay in addition to housing or an RV site. Every arrangement is different, and the complete compensation terms will be discussed and documented before a workamper begins.

Minimum Three-Month Commitment

Most Tarantula Ranch workamping opportunities require a minimum commitment of three months.

A three-month stay gives workampers time to understand the property, become comfortable with our routines and build relationships with returning guests. Longer stays may be possible when the arrangement works well for everyone.

We welcome inquiries for different times of year. Applicants should tell us their earliest available date, preferred length of stay and whether their dates are flexible.

What Is It Like to Live in Amargosa Valley?

Amargosa Valley is a rural desert community. It offers open space, mountain views, remarkably dark skies and access to places many travelers only visit briefly.

Death Valley National Park and Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge are nearby. Las Vegas is approximately 90 minutes away, while local shopping and services are more limited.

Living here is a good match for someone who enjoys quiet surroundings, desert weather and a degree of independence. It may be less suitable for someone who wants restaurants, nightlife and extensive shopping just outside the campground.

Summer temperatures can be extreme. Winter nights can be cold, and high winds are possible throughout the year. Applicants should be comfortable with desert conditions and realistic about rural living.

Reliable Wi-Fi is available at the ranch, which may make some positions suitable for workampers who also maintain a separate remote job. Any outside work schedule should be discussed before accepting a position so expectations are clear.

Who Should Contact Us?

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Are dependable, friendly and comfortable interacting with travelers

  • Can commit to at least three months

  • Respect guest privacy and quiet hours

  • Keep shared spaces clean and organized

  • Are comfortable living in a rural desert environment

  • Communicate problems promptly

  • Can perform the physical duties listed for a particular position

  • Have your own self-contained RV or are interested in optional housing

Previous campground-host or hospitality experience is helpful, but it is not required for every role. Practical skills, good judgment and a positive attitude can be equally valuable.

Individuals and couples are welcome to inquire. Please explain whether one or both people are seeking work and what type of schedule you prefer.

Are These Paid Workamping Positions?

Available compensation depends on the position. Opportunities may include hourly pay together with optional housing or a full-hookup RV site.

The hours, duties, wage, lodging or campsite terms and length of commitment will be stated clearly for each opening. Completing an inquiry does not guarantee a position, and we will not ask you to travel to Nevada until both sides have reviewed and accepted a written arrangement.

Workamping Near Las Vegas in a Very Different Nevada

A workamping position at Tarantula Ranch is an opportunity to experience a quieter side of southern Nevada.

Instead of city lights, you will find a small vineyard, desert sunsets and dark night skies. Instead of a large resort staff, you will be working with a family-owned business where reliability and thoughtful guest care make a visible difference.

If that sounds like the kind of place where you would enjoy spending three months or longer, introduce yourself. Even when no immediate camp-host position is open, we are happy to hear from experienced and aspiring workampers interested in future opportunities.
